Tim Williams
Tim Williams Kicking and Punting

Tim Williams Bio

At Waynesville High School in Ohio, Tim Williams had the record for the longest field goal in the state: a 57-yarder on Oct. 14, 1988. From there he went on to a successful college and pro career. Now he's working with young men from the 6th grade to those training in the NFL to help them achieve their own dreams at the sport.

Attending The Ohio State University on a full football scholarship, Williams was a four-year starting place kicker (1990, 1991, 1992 and 1993) and a starting punter in 1991 and 1993.  He was named to the The Ohio State University All-Century Team and 1st Team All-Big Ten in 1993. His 49 career field goals at that time broke an OSU record, although his career P.A.T. percentage (99 percent) and 86 consecutive P.A.T.’s still stand today as an OSU record.

After college, Williams spent two years with several NFL teams, including the Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also spent a year with the Dayton Skyhawks of the IFL (Indoor Football League) in 2000 and another year with the Ohio Valley Greyhounds of the NIFL (National Indoor Football League) in 2001. Williams also spent three years with the Detroit Fury of the Arena Football League at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan.  There he worked in the front office as Program Director for the Fury.  Currently he is employed with Kimball Midwest, an industrial supplier out of Columbus, OH.  He serves as a Sales Rep in the Dayton / Cincinnati area.

Williams was involved with the Ray Guy Kicking Academy from 1997 - 2005 as one of their top instructors.  He has traveled all over the country, from Oregon to Orlando, from New Orleans to Detroit, training kickers and punters at all levels.  He is very talented in attacking the fundamentals of kicking and punting and then building from there.

Williams’ biggest testament to his work is the players he has trained.  A few of those are mentioned here.

·        Mike Nugent:  The Ohio State University Buckeye record setting Place Kicker 2002 – 2005.  Lou Groza Award Winner 2004.  Current Kicker for the New York Jets.

·        Art Carmody:  University of Louisville starting Place Kicker 2004 – 2007.  Lou Groza Award Winner 2006.  All Time NCAA Leading Scorer with 433 points.

·        Kevin Lovell: University of Cincinnati Place Kicker 2004 –2006.  2007 St. Louis Rams Training Camp.  Expected to return to the Rams in ’08.

·        Jad Dean:  Clemson University Place Kicker 2003 – 2006.   Lou Groza Award Finalist 2005.  Currently training for the NFL.

·        Cole Chason:  Clemson University Punter 2003 – 2006.  Has this to say about Tim Williams.  He completely fine tuned my punting form in just two months before my first game my Senior year.  I went from averaging 36.5 yards a punt (net of 30 yards) my Junior season to averaging 41.15 yards and a net of 37.47 yards (19th in the nation) my Senior season”.

Tim Williams serves as the backbone of the University of Illinois Kicking and Punting Game.  Illinois Head Coach Ron Zook, who served as a Defensive Backs coach at Ohio State from 1988 to1990, recruited Williams to Ohio State.  Tim now runs the University of Illinois Specialist Camp each summer and also serves as a consultant to them on the training as well as the recruitment of their kickers and punters.

Tim’s students truly believe in his teaching methods because of their proven results.  His clients travel from all parts of the country to train with him.  Tim’s greatest asset is his ability to give the individual attention required to achieve perfection.  His philosophy not only encompasses the physical aspect of kicking and punting but most importantly the psychological thought process required.  “Having been there and played at a big time program such as Ohio State, I know what it takes to be successful.  We are all different shapes and sizes and I teach to the individual.  I am confident I can help whomever I work with no matter what level”.
